Team Formation Guide¶
Just like in an open-source project, a lead’s (maintainer’s) job isn't to do everything alone; it’s to "maintain" a space where others can easily contribute, learn, and grow.
Points of Contact (POCs)¶
For the FOSS United team to effectively support, mentor, and coordinate with your club, we ask that you designate 3 to 5 members as our primary points of contact. We’ve noticed that smaller teams work the best and would encourage you to do the same.
Typically, this small squad handles:
- The Anchor: The main planner for all things the club plans to do
- The Tech Guide: The tech superhero that everyone can rely on
- The Community Voice: Keeps the community on Discord/Telegram or in-person active and engaged.
- The Ops Helper: Handles the "boots on the ground" logistics like venue bookings and event dates.
- The Faculty Coordinator: The person helping you navigate the college administrative hurdles.
While we let you decide who plays what roles, we require you to have at least one non-male student member in your core team.
Growing Your Team¶
While we ask for 3 to 5 members as the main POCs for FOSS United, we know that running a big club takes more than that! Feel free to add more people to your extended team as needed.
Ready to start?¶
Once you've identified your team, introduce them to us by emailing their details to [email protected]! We’ll get them plugged into the right channels so we can start building together.
